Long luscious bouncy hair has long been envied throughout history and having long hair will always be in fashion. Some of us may need some extra help though to get the length and the volume that we crave and that is where hair extensions come in to play.
However, there are so many different types, how do you choose which one?
Well, hopefully we can help but let us explain a bit more about each different type of hair extension first.
So, what are the different types of Hair Extensions?
Clip in hair extensions is one of the quickest and most affordable type of hair extension. Very popular they enable you to experiment with different colours, textures and lengths. Clips secure the band under your own hair so these can be applied yourself and are quick and easy to put in and remove when needed. Being able to do them at home means that you can save money, and this makes them affordable so you can have them in a range of styles and colours.
This is the least permanent style of hair extension and least damaging as they don’t need any heat or glue to fix to your hair and this is what makes them so popular. Here at Beautiful Hair Extends we stock a variety of lengths and colours of clip ins to suite your taste.
Tape in hair extensions is a more permanent type of hair extension. The extensions come ready taped which are then sandwiched between your natural hair using tape or glue. Normally a hairdresser would apply these for you, as they need to be lined up against your roots. They are lightweight and nearly invisible as they lay so close and flat to the head. They are the least damaging of the permanent hair extension types so they are popular and are also suitable for hair types from thin to thick hair.
Sew in hair extensions or weaves are extensions attached to the natural hair itself either by braiding or ‘sewing in’. Your natural hair is braided into cornrows first then a needle and thread are used to sew the weave into the cornrow. This can take several hours depending on your hair and is mainly used for people with thicker hair because of the strain it puts on your natural hair during the weaving process. Weaves are the most permanent type of hair extension and require a professional, so it is time consuming and pricey but lasts longer as the hair is literally sewn in.
Closures and frontals are similar hair pieces that can be used to close a weave protecting the natural hair underneath.
Closures are full cover hair pieces. They can be applied to your weave to close it without using your natural hair. They have lace bases which allow them to blend naturally to look similar to a scalp and can also be used to make a custom wig.
Frontal hair pieces however are a strip of material that run ear to ear stretching 13 inches and close to the look of a half-wig and normally sewn into bundles. A major benefit of having a frontal piece is that you can style and part your hair in any way as the lace material gives the illusion of scalp, so you can have different partings.
Wigs are also a very popular choice as well due to the range of styles and colours available and the ease of changing your style day to day. They are worn over normally braided hair and come in differing styles of closures including the headband style wig that is quick and convenient. We also sell Ponytail hair extensions for when you want that full, bad ass lady boss look.
So that’s the beginning, you know the basics and now comes the fun part, picking the colours, the lengths and the styles that you want and here at Beautiful Hair Extends you are spoilt for choice!
